💡The Cognitive Learner
Formerly introduced in Bodies Make Sense as the New Kid.
The Cognitive Learner thinks, reasons, remembers, plans, uses language, and makes meaning from what is available in the moment.
It can reflect on the past, imagine the future, create stories, solve problems, and use insight to change what happens next.
But cognitive access is not constant.
When state changes, the information available to the Cognitive Learner can change too.
Access changes before behavior changes.
Understanding the Cognitive Learner helps us stop confusing knowing with access—and recognize that a person may understand something without being able to use that understanding in every state.
